F1 Challenge 99-02 is one of those games that capture the essence and atmosphere of the sport. You had a really great single player career mode which made you feel like you were actually competing in the F1 Championship. The adjustments and configurations mean that you could race the way you feel more comfortable but you could keep adding difficulty and challenge to your races. The AI is fairly decent in races and provides a good challenge, you could adjust its aggressiveness and speed as well. The game includes all the cars and tracks from the seasons, along with all your favorite riders; of course, you could actually gain the seat of a driver and play under your name.The multi-player option is fairly decent if you are on quick connections, however on slower ones the game struggles online. The game is now outdated by its more modern successors and although F1 Challenge also had a big mod community, they have now moved elsewhere, and the mods even ported. Unless you have played the game and are nostalgic of some races, you should look at the new simulations. |
